I was reading a book (or was it a blog, I am not sure) once, where Daniel Negreanu was explaining his poker learning process that eventually lead him to become a professional poker player. What I remember the most from it is one particular information that I think will help out those of you who have the desire and want to become a winning Poker Pro, no matter whether you are a beginner or already experienced poker player. It goes like this:
In order to become a winning poker player, you have to be like a sponge, Daniel Negreanu said! That means that you have to absorb as much good poker strategy content as possible, especially in those areas of your poker game that you have problems with!
The part is very important so I will repeat it: Make sure that you only absorb quality poker strategies and tips that will help you make right decisions, improve your poker skills and bring you the most value or money in the long run! Because in the long run making right decisions is the only thing that really matters in poker.
Just imagine this: If you would be able to make right decisions in every and all single No-Limit Texas Holdem hands you play, then your would absolutely minimize the gambling or risks that are part of every poker game! In situation like that, you would always ne one step ahead of everyone! You would basically be unbeatable at poker, pretty surreal situation if you think about it. : )
But since that feels like impossible (unless you cheat), you have to find other ways of having advantage over other players! Having advantage or more skills then other players is a cruical part in becoming a professional poker player! Therefore, what every player who wants to be a Poker Pro should know is this:
If you want to win money by playing either live or online poker poker games, such as No-Limit Texas Holdem for instance, then you need to be able to learn new strategies and concepts (besides playing poker on regular basis that is)! These things are very important in developing a winning poker strategy, which will lead you to become a Poker Pro.
To sum it up: learning and practising poker, and being disciplined and patient (not expecting an overnight riches, especially when you are just starting to build up your bankroll) is by my opinion the only way you will ever get in that top 5% of best poker players in the world! There is no shortcut to this, all that you need is passion for poker and constant need for learning and figuring out strategies that bring you the most money in the long run.
Practice poker to become professional player
As far as the part about practising poker goes, if you are just beginning with online poker, I suggest you open up new online poker room account on either Full Tilt Poker or PokerStars and start building up your bankroll! Otherwise make sure to set the number of hours you plan to play on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Another thing you should make sure is to have a good poker bankroll management strategy and play accordingly! Not having or following a proper bankroll management strategy is the number one reason that poker players get broke! If you do not have one, I suggest you read this poker bankroll management rules tested by Chris Ferguson and stick to! My words can not describe how important this is.
