Tom Durrrr Dwan’s Live Million Dollar Cash Game Challenge

Watch Tom »Durrrr« Dwan play against different opponents in Million Dollar Cash game Challenge!

This blog post is about Tom »Durrrr« Dwan and his Live Million Dollar Challenge where he is playing Heads Up Poker games live against various different poker players.

As you may or may not know, TV Poker Shows are one way of getting valuable insights into how Poker Pros are making decisions when it comes to poker games. That is why I want to introduce you to another TV Poker Show, which will be especially interesting to you in case you are into Heads Up Games cash games.

Watch how Tom Dwan confronts different opponents in high stakes heads-up poker cash games in the video below and I bet you will learn something about how to play heads up live poker for sure! The first episode below is where Dwan plays versus Sammy Georges (worth watching if/when you have some time to spend).

To add some thoughts on Tom »Durrrr« Dwan alongside this video, before Durrrr joined Team Full Tilt Poker in November 2009, Tom was already playing in the highest staked online poker games on Full Tilt Poker with a nickname »durrrr«.

Not to mention, how he was already well established and known in the Poker world before that too. There were rumors that he has not yet experienced a serious downswing and as soon as that happens he will go broke.

Well, until today that has not (yet?) happened (at least he did not go broke). Instead, he seems to be beating the highest poker table limits just fine. To give you an example:

Tom Dwan’s winrate (BB per 100 hands) on $500/$1000 No-limit Holdem SH table limits after more than 50.000 played hands is almost 5.7. That basically means he is winning over $10K for every 100 hands played! In case he is multitabling (which I am sure he does) he can play 100 hands in (lets say) less than 30 minutes.

Not bad I would say! : )

In case you do not know, live Million Dollar Challenge is basically similar to Online Million Dollar Challenge. The difference is obviously in how or where the games are played and the numbers of hands played.

While in Online Million Dollar Challenge (or the original Durrrr Challenge) both Tom Dwan and his opponent (currently Patrik Antonius) are required to play 50k hands on limits of $200/$400 or higher (multitabling on 4 tables), Live Million Dollar Challenge is less marathon like.

In other words: the number of played hands is a lot lower in live challenge.

To sum it up: Full Tilt Poker’s Live Million Dollar Challenge with Tom »Durrrr« Dwan is a very interesting TV Poker Show that is definitely worth watching! Here it is:

As always: Good luck at the online poker tables, be it on Full Tilt Poker or Lucky Ace Poker or somewhere else. : )

About Professional Poker Players on FTP Academy

February 14, 2010 · Posted in Poker Challenge · Comments

Learning poker strategy from professional poker players on Full Tilt Poker Academy

As I have alredy pointed out in my previous post Online poker training with Pros from Full Tilt Poker Academy, there are 32 professional poker players, who share their poker knowledge and experience on Full Tilt Poker Academy!

The Poker Pros that »teach« online poker strategy on FTP Academy are all among the best at what they do (playing poker professionally obviously) and are either part of Team Full Tilt or part of FTP Pros.

To give you one proof of their poker expertise: Take a look at all those titles and big poker events that these players have won or been very close to winning.

For instance, you will find videos and podcasts on how to play NL Hold’em or Limit Omaha Hi-Lo from top online Pro poker player Jordan Morgan in there. He has won WSOP Circuit Event in 2007 and many other big online Multi-table Tournaments (MTT) on Full Tilt.

Or perhaps you will be more interested in poker lesson from Gus Hansen about how to control the poker table. Gus Hansen has been World Poker Tour (WPT) champion for three times up to date.

The above mentioned Poker Pros are only 2 out of 32 total Pros that give advice on how to improve your game and become a winning poker player or earn more money. There are many more just as good (or even better) Pros that you can learn from.

They can help you out with any aspect (pre-flop or post-flop game, bankroll management, starting hands, position, betting) or form of poker (NL Texas Holdem, Pot limit Omaha). But basically, what you will learn on FTP Academy really depends on you.

Think about which element of your poker game you want to improve. What makes you lose money? What is your weakness? Is Heads-up play your weakness? What are your goals?

Take time and think for a minute or two what part of your poker strategy should you improve or want to learn more about it. When you have the necessary anwsers, log in to the FTP Academy (or make an account first at Full Tilt Poker in case you do not have one yet) and find players who has published tutorials or lessons on that subject.

When you find the desired content, watch it and compare everything that is being said with what you have learned or experienced so far about the subject. Think about how you will incorporate your newly gained knowledge in your current poker game the next time you will play poker online or live.

That is it! Now go to FTP Academy and start improving your poker strategy today so you can profit from it tomorow!

In case you would like to add something, please leave it in comments below. Thanks and good luck at the poker tables!

My Chris Ferguson’s poker bankroll challenge

February 1, 2010 · Posted in Poker Challenge, online poker tournaments · Comments

Starting with my own Chris Ferguson’s challenge by playing online freeroll poker tournaments

A couple of days ago I registered to one of the freerolls on Full Tilt Poker. This was simply because I have not played online poker for quite some time now and just wanted to play a couple of hands for the fun of it. But before even realizing, I involved myself into the Chris Ferguson’s poker bankroll challenge!

The idea of starting (or should I say: embarking on) my own Chris Ferguson’s poker challenge came all of a sudden to me. It was never planned or premeditated, it just occured my mind when I was waiting for my online freeroll to begin.

I said something like this to myself: »Hey, you have no bankroll at all to play poker. Why dont you build yourself one by doing exactly what Chris Ferguson did on his poker challenge from Zero to Hero?« And the decision was made!

In case you do not know what Ferguson’s poker challenge is all about, then I suggest you read the following two blog posts I wrote some time ago:

To sum it up: My main goal is to build a poker bankroll of $10,000 starting with no money at all. Since I have no funds to play poker with, I have no choice but to start playing freeroll poker tournaments until I get myself some funds to actually buy into a tournament or cash-game.

From then on I will be closely following bankroll management rules, which Chris Ferguson used in his challenge where he went from zero to a bankroll of $10,000. Since I wont be working on my bankroll challenge every day (due to lack of time mostly), I set myself a goal to achieve this in 5 years from now.

I have already made one video regarding my challenge on my Youtube channel explaining more in details about the journey I am about to embark on. Here it is:

The thing I forgot to mention is this: In case I do not manage to get some funds from the freerolls for lets say 6 months, I will deposit some cash into my poker account and start playing on the micro limits and go on from there. This is because I know how hard can freerolls be to get into the cash.

As I said I will start playing on Full Tilt Poker (you are invited to play online poker there as well, click here to register), but will be looking out for other online poker freerolls to join in as well.

Whenever I find a good freeroll to join in (big prizepool, small number of participants), I will tell you about it on my blog or in the Youtube videos I will be making. Therefore, make sure to subscribe to my blog or Youtube channel.

That is it for now, have fun and stay in touch!
